How To Clean

Like everything in life practice makes perfect and usually the younger you are when you learn something new the easier it is to learn it - well most things anyway and learning how to clean is definitely one of them.

I remember when I was growing up, every Saturday was clean-up day. My grandmother worked as a cleaning woman for our local school district and she taught us how to clean everything. Her favorite advice on how to clean was to use good old-fashioned elbow grease. By the time that I was twelve, I knew how to clean like a professional just through the tips and tricks taught to me by my grandmother.

Both my grandmother taught me how to clean floors and gave me great tips on how to maintain the floor in between cleanings. The best cleaning agent to use on floors is vinegar and water.

The vinegar and water combination is a thrifty and convenient cleaning tool when showing someone how to clean floors. Vinegar and water makes no-wax floors shine and I was amazed when my grandmother demonstrated how to clean using the simple mixture. I still use vinegar and water on my no-wax floors to this day.

Certainly many people become very frustrated when deciding how to clean windows and mirrors and there are a couple of great tips on how to clean shiny surfaces. Two frustrating results we often find when cleaning windows and mirrors are streaks and lint. It is also difficult to determine which side the streaks and lint are on windows.

For instance when I was taught how to clean these shiny surfaces, I was advised to use plain soap and water and a squeegee. I was amazed to see the wonderful results that only a squeegee can render. Using a squeegee is another tip on how to clean floors, too. The squeegee collects virtually all of the dirt and leaves the floor dry.

So if you are concerned about how to clean silver without buying special products, try using baking soda and boiling water. It is very important that you are positive that the item is real silver because the combination eats away dirt and it may eat away a silver coating, too. Just dust the baking soda on the silver and pour a little boiling water over it. Wait a few minutes and wipe away the grime.

When my grandmother taught me how to clean, she also described how some of the regular household items like baking soda, vinegar, rubbing alcohol and peroxide could be used to make just about everything sparkle. She showed me how to clean anything with these simple products and with elbow grease.
