Learn Hebrew Online

Although to learn Hebrew online might be possible, I do not recommend it. As a native speaker of Hebrew, I can tell you that there is much more to that language than what you might learn from an online textbook.

There are many courses that tell supposedly can help you learn Hebrew online, and I have talked to the graduates of some of these courses.

You see, I tutor Hebrew professionally, so I know a lot about these learn Hebrew online classes, and their strengths and weaknesses. Although many of them will give you a good grasp of Hebrew grammar, and a little bit of vocab as well, they just are not all that they are cracked up to be.

You see, it is not possible to learn a foreign language online. If you want to take one of these classes, fine, but you will need other things to help you learn. Besides your learn Hebrew online class, for example, you probably will need some conversation partner.

At least one conversation partner is absolutely indispensable for learning a foreign language, no matter what the language is. Even if your object is only to learn Hebrew online as a way to read it, a conversational partner is still helpful.

They will be able to get you used to speaking in Hebrew, and that will let you think in Hebrew You will not fully learn Hebrew online unless you can think in it because, otherwise, you will not fully understand the language.

You will always be translating it into your native language, which inevitable results in you missing out on shades of meaning. It is simply not enough just to learn Hebrew online.

I criticize programs that allow people to learn Hebrew online, but for the right student, they might be a boon. If you are able and willing to invest the effort needed, it is possible to learn Hebrew online, and there are advantages for many people.

There are a lot of folks whose only way to study it is to learn Hebrew online, because they do not have the time to commit to a Hebrew class, or perhaps do not live near by to one. If they do not try to learn Hebrew online, they will simply never get to learn it at all, and that is a shame if they have a passion for Jewish culture, or the Hebrew language.
