Learn How To Speak Japanese
Get as many Japanese Language CDs as you can and listen to them constantly. "But I'm too busy!" says most people.
That's why I recommend listening to them on your way to work or school, either in the car or on an mp3 player. Get into the routine and you will soon learn how to speak Japanese fluently.
Numerous American businessmen in this day and age desire to learn how to speak Japanese without investing all of the time required. They want a shortcut to learning to speak Japanese, as if it were something like riding a bike.
The reality is, however, that Japanese is a complex and sophisticated language, and is not easy to learn. Although there are software programs and correspondence courses that promise you that you will learn Japanese from them, stuff like that never works.
You might gain knowledge of a little bit from these toys. You might learn how to converse verbal Japanese phrases, which might help you get around in Japan, but that is not the same as learning the whole language.
The only way to learn how to speak Japanese is the same way you have to learn any foreign language. You must be willing to travel to the country and actually study hard or at least is willing to take classes in it.
Traveling overseas to Japan is actually the best way I know of to learn how to speak Japanese if you want to know the truth. Nothing will teach you how to speak Japanese like immersing yourself in the country and its culture.
There are some problems that you will have when you try to learn how to speak Japanese that you will not have in other language projects.
Japanese social norms are very difficult, so learning how to speak Japanese is not just a subject of learning the words, phrases, and grammar, but also learning the subtle rules of politeness that governs every aspect of Japanese society.
If you just learn to speak Japanese from a computer program, or a book, or even from someone who is not a native Japanese speaker, you will never even begin to pick up the customs of Japanese culture by yourself.

The entire country is of quite a manageable size, so while you learn how to speak Japanese, you will also have ample opportunity to travel and explore. Many people, when they think about Japan, picture Tokyo, but the country is actually diverse, with both bustling cities and quiet and beautiful rural areas with some of the best scenery in the world.
The trick is to get several different CDs from several different places. That way you get all the basic phrases many times, but presented in a different way. If you're in the car, repeating along is great, but obviously don't do this if you take the subway to work!
